Vanishing of Ext and Tor over Cohen-Macaulay local rings

We consider vanishing of Ext and Tor, especially over Artinian rings. Inparticular, we prove the Auslander-Reiten conjecture for all commutative localrings in which the cube of the maximal ideal is zero.
